Christ Church Local Outreach
This committee, which meets quarterly, is concerned with human needs here in the New River Valley. We are emphasizing support to groups which are located in our own community, which serve the poorest and neediest, and which have active support and involvement from members of Christ Church. This year these included (among others):
Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program, an interfaith program which provides immediate temporary assistance for families in need.
Montgomery County Christmas Store gives needy families the chance to shop for Christmas gifts and clothing in a dignified and respectful way.
Free Clinic of the New River Valley provides health care and health information to people in need.
New River Family Shelter houses homeless families and helps them find permanent housing.
Women's Shelter provides housing and support for victims of domestic crisis.
Habitat for Humanity of the New River Valley builds houses for approved low-income families.
Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry provides food for those in need.
Valley Interfaith Child Care Center (VICCC) provides quality affordable day care for children from low-income working families.
